Indy 500 Practice Update - Day 9

Another day of drama and questions, as a massive crash by James Hinchcliffe halts practice and races more concerns at Indiapolis Motor Speedway. Barely an hour into the first practice session, Hinchcliffe suffered a mechanical failure (broken right front suspension piece) and made hard right-side contact with outside SAFER Barrier coming out of Turn 3, the car spinning slightly through the short chute, briefly flipping over then righting itself, coming to rest at exit of Turn 4. Hinchcliffe was extricated from the car and immediately taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital where he underwent surgery for injury to his left upper thigh. Last medical update was that he was in stable condition...
