Newgarden suffers broken collarbone and fractured hand

IndyCar medical director Dr. Geoff Billows has revealed Josef Newgarden sustained a fractured right clavicle and a small fracture on his right hand in his accident in Texas. Newgarden's Ed Carpenter Racing-Chevrolet was tipped on its side and its top surface made two hard impacts with the SAFER barrier on the exit of Turn 4 and along the frontstraight at Texas Motor Speedway, after being struck by Conor Daly's out-of-control Dale Coyne Racing-Honda.
