Firestone 600 postponed to August by IndyCar after further rain

The Firestone 600 IndyCar race in Texas has been postponed to August 27 after rain showers on Sunday. The race had been set to take place under floodlights on Saturday but rain earlier in the day meant it was forced to be postponed to 1:15pm local time on Sunday. Despite a short delay while small damp patches were dried out, the ninth round of the 2016 IndyCar season did get underway with Andretti Autosport driver Carlos Munoz leading from pole position. He held onto the top spot until the green flag pitstops around 30 laps into the race, before a big crash for Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden brought out the first caution of the day.
