INDYCAR: Schmidt sues Enerson’s father

Team owner Sam Schmidt has sued Neil Enerson, the father of his former driver RC Enerson, for monies Enerson allegedly owes Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. Enerson's 19-year-old son, who is set to make his IndyCar debut this weekend at Mid-Ohio with Dale Coyne Racing (above), drove for SPM's Indy Lights team in 2015 and returned for 2016 (below), but left the program after the Freedom 100 at Indianapolis in May. Citing his low position of seventh in the Indy Lights championship standings after Indy, and little chance of winning the IndyCar graduation prize, the teenager told RACER a decision was made to exit the series and apply the unused Indy Lights budget to landing an IndyCar seat....
