Newgarden cleared to take part in Road America practice

Ed Carpenter Racing driver Josef Newgarden has been cleared to participate in Friday’s practice sessions for IndyCar return to Road America. Newgarden was injured in a violent crash during the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway, sustaining a fractured right clavicle and a minor fracture on his right hand. J.R. Hildebrand was recently named as his substitute and would race the car, should Newgarden be declared unfit to do so.
