Rookie Alexander Rossi wins 100th running of Indy 500

Alexander Rossi has won the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 for Andretti Autosport and Honda, becoming the first rookie to win the race in 15 years. Rossi played the fuel mileage game, stealing the victory out from under Carlos Munoz and Josef Newgarden. His margin of victory was 4.4975 seconds over Munoz. Late in the going, Munoz, Newgarden and Kanaan were in control of the race. The Brazilian blinked first and pitted. He got separated from the other two and it seemed as if Munoz might actually take the 500 win for himself.
