Kanaan tops final practice for Indy 500

Carb Day’s final hour of practice saw Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon putting the Chip Ganassi Racing-Chevrolet team at the sharp end of the field, hinting that the two one-time winners are coming good at the right time. Kanaan completed 42 laps but his fastest – by a long way – came in the tow in a pack of six cars on lap 28. The result was a 226.280mph, to beat Andretti Autosport’s Carlos Munoz by a solid 1.5mph.
