Tagliani crashes on qualifying run

2011 Indy 500 polesitter Alex Tagliani has crashed out of qualifying for the 100th Running, after spinning his AJ Foyt Racing-Honda out of Turn 4 at the end of his warm-up lap. The Canadian got both wheels of the #35 below the white line on entry to Turn 4, bobbled through the exit and lost the tail end. The tires smoked heavily as the car spun and rapidly lost speed, drifted to the inside of the track and clipped the attenuator at the end of the pitwall. That broke the nose of the car and sent the black and orange car spinning again. However, Tagliani stepped out of the car unaided and was soon cleared by medical to drive again. However, he will be forced to start from the rear of the grid...
