IndyCar: Penske and CHF teams fined for pitlane violations

Team Penske and CHF Racing have both been fined over the bizarre pitlane incident that occurred midway through Sunday's IndyCar season finale at Sonoma. Simon Pagenaud's No. 22 entry was fined $2,500 for violating Rule 7.9.17.1 (courtesy zone) and Rule 7.10.1.1 (lane usage) of the IndyCar Series rulebook, while Josef Newgarden's No.67 entry was fined $500 for violating Rule 7.10.1.6 (contact with another car's pit equipment). The incident occurred when Pagenaud was attempting to pit, but delayed turning into his pitbox to allow teammate Will Power a clean exit from his own stop.
