IndyCar: Scott Dixon wins the finale and the championship at Sonoma

The fourth IndyCar title of Scott Dixon’s career will be remembered as a surprise, but also well-deserved, following his third win of the season and the 100th IndyCar win for Chip Ganassi Racing. The Kiwi overcame the fact that he was only ninth on the grid at one of the toughest tracks on which to pass by jumping to sixth at the start, and passing teammate Charlie Kimball to run fifth. Then Ganassi pulled off a masterstroke to switch the No. 9 Chevrolet-powered car from reds to blacks before any of the other leading contenders, on lap 14, and Dixon’s out-laps were strong enough to vault him another two spots ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay and championship leader Juan Pablo Montoya when...
