Indy 500: Trackside live report - Sunday

Practice opened Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with another big crash and another airborne racecar. Ed Carpenter, after turning a lap of 231 mph in his Fuzzy's Vodka Dallara/Chevrolet, pounded the Turn 2 wall, slid backward, flipped over and slid down the backstretch on his roll bar. He scrambled out of his badly damaged car and reacted angrily to the reality of his situation. "I am so pissed off but I can't really say what I want to," said Carpenter, leaving people wondering if he had some kind of failure.
