Monday's Sonoma IndyCar test day open to the public

Verizon IndyCar Series preseason testing kicks into high gear this week, beginning Monday with a team session at Sonoma Raceway that will be open to the public. A dozen drivers from six teams are expected to participate in the test on the 12-turn, 2.385-mile permanent road course that will play host to the series' season finale, the Grand Prix of Sonoma, for the fourth straight year from Sept. 14-16. Among those testing will Team Penske's three drivers – including reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion Josef Newgarden – in their first team test of the new year.
