Aleshin returns with Schmidt
Mikhail Aleshin will return to Schmidt Peterson Motorsport for the 2017 IndyCar season, the team has confirmed. The Russian had been widely expected to retain his seat alongside James Hinchcliffe, but that was thrown into doubt when sponsorship problems arose during the winter. With those apparently having been resolved, the 29-year-old is ready to take his place in the No.7 Honda. "Thanks to both the SMP Racing program and our American team, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, I am to keep fighting for even better results this season in IndyCar," Aleshin said in a team release.
