Nurburgring 24 Hours: Farfus grabs pole

The Marc VDS BMW team will start the Nurburgring 24 Hours from pole position after DTM star Augusto Farfus topped Friday afternoon’s thrilling 30-car shootout qualifying session. In perfect weather conditions, the top 30 cars were allowed two laps of the Nordschleife, leaving the grid with gaps between them. On the opening lap, Stefan Mucke set the benchmark at 8m21.588s for Aston Martin, but Maxime Martin beat that with 8m20.464s in his Marc VDS BMW Z4 GT3. Lance David Arnold was first to dip under the 8m20s barrier, setting 8m19.592s in his Bentley Continental. Then BMW truly came to the fore, led by Farfus in #26 Marc VDS BMW who set a sensational 8m17.531s on his first flying lap....
