Jay Howard returns to SPM for Indianapolis 500 effort

Jay Howard will return to the Indianapolis 500 this year with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, the team confirmed on Friday. Howard ended a six-year absence from the series when he linked up with SPM at last season’s running of the event, but crashed out, with his errant car providing the launch pad for Scott Dixon’s violent accident. Howard will be the fourth SPM entry for the event, joining regulars James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens, and Michael Shank-backed co-entry Jack Harvey.
