Ganassi Racing cuts more than 40 staff

Most everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing had heard for the past few weeks that the IndyCar team was cutting back from four to two cars for 2018, so Wednesday's announcement confirming the contraction wasn't a total surprise. But it was still some tough reality as a team owner that never lays people off during the winter and breeds loyalty for the way he treats mechanics cut loose 40 people on Black Wednesday. "It was one of the saddest days of my life and it hurt because we lost a lot of good people.
