Vautier starting IndyCar return strongly
Tristan Vautier became the latest driver of Dale Coyne Racing's No. 18 Honda on Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, after Esteban Gutierrez was denied permission to race by IndyCar owing to his lack of prior experience on ovals. The Frenchman, who is now a regular in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, last raced for Coyne in IndyCars in 2015 and so is well positioned to judge the progress of the team since that time. He obviously liked what he found, qualifying an impressive fifth for Saturday night's Rain Guard 600.
