Rahal earns Detroit pole after Castroneves penalty

– Graham Rahal benefited from a penalty on Hélio Castroneves to earn pole for the first race of the Dual in Detroit. Castroneves had already affixed the Verizon P1 award sticker to his rear wing when IndyCar officials determined that the Brazilian would lose his pole for not slowing under a local yellow.Castroneves already secured pole position by a few hundredths of a second, but one more lap ensured he would also collect a new lap record as only the second man to break into the 1:13s. After an investigation, though, IndyCar officials determined he had failed to slow under a caution caused by Mikhail Aleshin and thus would lose his fastest lap. He will now start second.The...
