Newgarden Takes Maiden Win at Barber

An outstanding race full of strategy and passing saw Josef Newgarden hold off a fast-charging Graham Rahal to take his maiden Verizon IndyCar Series win. Newgarden was saving fuel in his last stint, while Rahal was able to run full rich after making his final pit stop several laps later. Rahal, though, passed Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves, and Scott Dixon in the final ten laps to ultimately finish second. Dixon finished third. Will Power had a tough start to his day, incurring a drive-through penalty after his first stop.
