Castroneves outruns the rain to win Alabama pole

– Hélio Castroneves put in a quick lap early in the third qualifying session to beat the oncoming rain (and his team-mates) to take pole for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.  The 43rd pole of his career and second in a row, Castroneves topped the all-Chevy Firestone Fast Six as spectators were being told to evacuate the grandstands due to an oncoming thunderstorm.IndyCar had initially moved up the start of qualifying in anticipation of a developing cell west of Birmingham, Alabama, and they took further steps to shorten the length of time between qualifying sessions, too.  Their plan worked smoothly until Q3 when drops began to fall right at the start of the final session.All...
