INDYCAR: Hunter-Reay, Power top Sonoma test

The final Verizon IndyCar Series test of the 2016 season proved to be an educational affair for the 21 full-time drivers who'll return next week for the championship finale. Thanks to a new tire compound provided by Firestone for teams to learn ahead of the Sept. 18 race at Sonoma Raceway, every entrant, barring KVSH Racing and driver Sebastien Bourdais, took part in a full day of running to figure out the needs of the new rubber and optimize their setups. Teams also had leftover tires from other tracks to use, which made it impossible to create linear comparisons between lap times.
