Hinchcliffe penalized for domed skid wear at Texas

Firestone 600 runner-up James Hinchcliffe and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports have been hit with a hefty penalty from IndyCar officials. Hinchliffe, who lost the race in the closest margin in Texas Motor Speedway history (0.008), was docked 25 championship points. The penalty drops him from eighth to ninth in the championship standings, behind Carlos Munoz. The team was also issued a $20,000 fine. Several cars were seen throwing a significant amount of sparks during the race, but none more so than the No. 5 Honda.  When the race resumed after a 76-day postponement, Hinchcliffe was the leader and went on to lead 188 of 248 laps before the photo finish. “In our post-race analysis this week...
