Aleshin earns first career pole at Pocono

– Mikhail Aleshin secured his first career IndyCar pole position on Saturday with a two-lap average of 220.445mph at Pocono. Aleshin was the first driver to break the 220mph mark in qualifying and was, for a while, a full mile-per-hour quicker than the nearest competitor.The pole was a pleasant surprise for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, who also picked up a P6 starting spot with James Hinchcliffe, and for Honda after just two Chevrolet engines managed to break into the top seven.Early in qualifying, Carlos Muñoz set the bar high with a 219.647mph average.
