Dixon top as Mid-Ohio’s unofficial lap record falls again

Scott Dixon led a group of five cars under the 64-second barrier at Mid-Ohio SportsCar Course during third practice for Sunday’s Honda Indy 200. The #9 Chip Ganassi Racing-Chevrolet flew around the track in 63.7244sec, an average speed of 127.562mph of the 2.258-mile course. Yesterday's 64.19sec lap by Will Power had been the previous best. Dixon's fastest was 0.17sec clear of championship leader Simon Pagenaud, who edged Team Penske-Chevy teammate Will Power and Ed Carpenter Racing-Chevy’s Josef Newgarden by hundredths.
