Pagenaud leads Penske 1-2-3 in qualifying

– Simon Pagenaud cruised to the sixth pole position of his career, beating Penske team-mates Hélio Castroneves and Juan Pablo Montoya ahead of the first of two races in Detroit.Pagenaud had a quiet Q3, setting his fastest time on his second of three laps, just as nearly every driver in the session did. Castroneves did the same, getting within 0.0119s of the Frenchman, but just like everyone else, he was unable to better his speed on his final flying lap.So, as time expired, no one really improved their positions in the Fast Six, meaning the championship leader heads a Penske/Chevrolet 1–2–3.
