Ganassi dominates opening practice at Texas

Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon were two of only three drivers to break the 216mph barrier at Texas Motor Speedway in the 75-minute practice session, the only one before qualifying. Kanaan lapped the 1.5-mile course at 216.745mph on the eighth of his 28 laps, narrowly edging his teammate Dixon by 0.13mph, although Kanaan believes qualifying will be a lottery due to not getting a chance to test qualifying setups. Dixon missed the opening 20 minutes of the session after an electrical issue meant his car wouldn't fire up.
