Alexander Rossi bags $2.5 million thanks to Indy 500 victory
Alexander Rossi took home more than $2m after winning the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, with the overall prize find topping $13m (£9m). The Manor Formula 1 reserve driver and IndyCar rookie coasted across the finish line with an empty fuel tank to take victory for Andretti Autosport, earning the top prize of $2,548,743 (£1.75m), including $50,000 (£34,000) for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors. Second-placed Carlos Munoz secured winnings of $788,743 (£544,298) and third-placed Josef Newgarden $574,243 (£396,275).
