I love old Indy 500 entry lists. By 1996, with CART and the IRL headed in two different directions with separate 500-mile events on May 26, the era of unified open-wheel racing had been lost. Both sides came together in 2008 when Champ Car failed to answer the bell, and we've been fortunate to have a single IndyCar Series to focus on since then.
