Rossi tops pre-qualifying practice

21 teams set times in the abbreviated practice session that precedes qualifying for the Indianapolis 500. Indy 500 rookie Alexander Rossi led the way overall with a 231.249mph lap. His Andretti Autosport teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay was P2 with Tony Kanaan being the highest Chevrolet in third. Helio Castroneves and Will Power rounded out the top five. Kanaan, who will  set the quickest no-tow time at 230.360mph. He was followed by Rossi, Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Dixon, and Castroneves. Another rookie did not fare nearly as well as Rossi and that's Max Chilton. The former Formula 1 driver lost control out of Turn 2 and slammed the outside wall.
