Montoya fastest after action-packed opening practice at Long Beach

Juan Pablo Montoya has ended the opening practice session of the IndyCar Grand Prix of Long Beach fastest, ahead of Penske team-mate Will Power and British racer Jack Hawksworth. The 21 drivers were eager to get their preparations for the 80-lap race underway at the start of the opening practice session, immediately leaving the confines of the pits and taking to the majestic Californian street course. The times immediately began to tumble, with Tony Kanaan, Marco Andretti and Charlie Kimball all posting quick times from the word go.
