Toronto opener shortened, still red flagged

– After several aborted starts, IndyCar officials announced that the opening race at Toronto will now be shortened by 20 laps, from 85 to 65. Should the race be a timed event, the maximum allowed will be 90 minutes as opposed to the original two hours.Rain began to intensify shortly before the scheduled green flag, prompting IndyCar to run extra laps behind the Safety Car. Feedback from drivers indicated that visibility was too low for a safe start, so President of Competition and Operations Derrick Walker red flagged the first race in the Toronto doubleheader weekend.The cars were eventually sent back out after roughly 20 minutes, but conditions had not improved.
