IndyCar: Power tops test day at Sonoma

Will Power topped the times on in the three-and-a-half hour promoter test session at Sonoma on Friday. Strict tire allocations forced most teams to be selective with their running, but Power remained at the top of the time sheets for most of the afternoon. The reigning champion's 47 laps yielded fastest time of 1m17.4858s; 0.07s off his pole time from last year. "That was an interesting session," Power said. "It's the first time we got to try that new [compound] tire on a long run and it definitely degrades a lot, so I think that's going to create really good racing.
