Dixon dominates, takes Mid-Ohio pole

– Scott Dixon thought he had broken the Mid-Ohio lap record in Q2 of IndyCar qualifying, but he was beaten well after the chequered flag by team-mate Charlie Kimball. In Q3, though, the Kiwi left no doubt as to who is the fastest man of the weekend so far, authoritatively taking pole position by shattering the record.Dixon's time came with over a minute left in Q3, destroying the old mark of 1:05.347, set in 1999 and tied in 2000. His new time of 1:04.581 came on scuffed red tyres, moving 0.4s clear of the nearest car.
