Castroneves beats Kanaan to Iowa pole

– As Tony Kanaan sprinted down the pit lane after his qualifying run, he hoped that his only challenge would be from his Chip Ganassi team-mate Scott Dixon. Kanaan was provisionally P1, quickest of all three-quarters of the way through qualifying.What he didn't anticipate, though, was Hélio Castroneves appearing at the top of the scoring pylon, topping the former Iowa winner while Dixon could only manage P4.Kanaan had topped every practice session so far this weekend at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, seemingly always flanked by one of his Ganassi team-mates, but Castroneves quietly slid by with only a handful of cars to go.
