IndyCar: Power edges closer to St. Pete lap record in FP3

Will Power whittled his fastest lap down to 61.3621 in Saturday afternoon's practice session for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg to top the times ahead of teammates Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves. The defending race-winner slotted his Verizon Team Penske into top spot with his eighth lap of the day, although his final lap of the session would also have put the No. 1 Penske-Chevrolet on top. Sebastien Bourdais' 12-year-old all-time lap record on a slightly different track was 60.928sec, which suggests that on red softer compound tires, a new track record should be seen in qualifying this afternoon.
