Dixon on Pole After Chaotic Indy Qualifying

After three airborne crashes in the week of practice, the most recent being Ed Carpenter's in Sunday morning practice, IndyCar officials made a last-minute change ahead of today's Pole qualifying for the 99th Indianapolis 500. Gone were the extra boost, and its 40-50 horsepower, as well as a handful of aerodynamic pieces. The result was the desired decrease in speed. No driver came close to the 230 mph mark during qualifying, and the session thankfully ran without incident. Unsurprisingly, the cars from Chip Ganassi Racing and Team Penske dominated the day, taking position one through on the grid.
