Indy 500: Pagenaud leads Friday practice

Despite the extra horsepower, Fast Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway turned out to be no big deal and Arie Luyendyk's 19-year-old track record looks safe. But it appears the battle for the pole position will be a private affair between Chip Ganassi Racing and Team Penske. Even though Simon Pagenaud (ABOVE, Marshall Pruett photo) turned the quickest lap of the day at 230.698 mph, Scott Dixon, Will Power and Sage Karam all topped 230 without a tow. Dixon ran 230.655mph in a traffic-free run in the Target Dallara-Chevrolet and Power was close behind at 230.206 mph in the Verizon Penske-Chevy. Karam also topped 230mph in another Ganassi entry.
