McLaren unveils Fernando Alonso’s Indianapolis 500 livery

McLaren Racing has unveiled Fernando Alonso’s IndyCar livery ahead of the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500. The striking orange papaya returns to the car, very similar to the colours the team use in Formula 1 and what Alonso raced in his effort at the 2017 event. His race number has also changed from the #29 he used in 2017 to #66. The number bears a special relationship with the Woking-based team as Mark Donohue won the 1972 race in a McLaren M16B ran by Team Penske. Alonso is due to take part in a private test at Texas Motor Speedway tomorrow to acclimatise himself to the new universal aerokit which was introduced in 2018.
