Page 1 of 2 Formula 1 is a bubble. The members of this paddock exist in a state of blissful ignorance, unaware that other alien worlds of racing exist. We have no concept of what the Indy 500 is. Heavens, we don't even really understand the drivers who populate our own paddock. We walk around with our heads in the sand. Or, perhaps more accurately, firmly lodged up our collective patootie. At least, that's what I read. Fernando Alonso's decision to race at the Brickyard isn't a big deal, however. I mean, he's hardly one of the Taylor brothers. Or Danica Patrick (BELOW). How Alonso is supposed to help IndyCar become more popular is anyone's guess. He's not exactly done much since winning...
