Schmidt Peterson shuts down Indy Lights team
Schmidt Peterson has closed down its hugely successful Indy Lights team in a move that team owner Sam Schmidt has described as “one of the toughest things I’ve had to do in the last 15 years.” Just two months after his lead Lights driver Santiago Urrutia was narrowly beaten to the 2016 title by Carlin Racing’s Ed Jones at Laguna Seca, Schmidt has shuttered the operation.
