Dixon tops third practice, but rivals close in
Scott Dixon topped third practice for tomorrow’s penultimate round of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series championship, but Will Power was less than a tenth slower than the reigning champion. The Chip Ganassi Racing-Chevrolet driver, who led both of yesterday’s sessions, lapped the 3.37-mile road course in 1min22.8008sec, an average speed of 146.520mph on his eighth of 17 laps. But the Team Penske-Chevrolet of Will Power was just 0.0538sec behind, with Sebastien Bourdais’ KVSH Racing-Chevy a further tenth adrift.
