IndyCar: Kanaan heads practice in Detroit
Tony Kanaan left it until his penultimate lap to wrestle his No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara-Chevrolet to top time around Belle Isle’s 2.35-mile course. He lapped the track in 1min16.2931sec, an average of 110.888mph, to eclipse a startlingly strong performance from his rookie teammate Sage Karam. The Pennsylvania native ended his strong run with a spin-and-stall, but that couldn’t take the shine off his performance. Behind the Ganassi pair was a trio of Penske entries headed by Will Power, while KVSH Racing pair Stefano Coletti and Sebastien Bourdais finished up ahead of Ganassi’s Scott Dixon.
