Bourdais 'better than expected' after crash

– Sébastien Bourdais has undergone successful surgery and is doing "better than expected" after his ferocious crash during first qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 on Saturday.Dale Coyne racer Bourdais had posted the quickest speed across the opening two laps – above the 231-mph mark, but lost control through Turn 2 on his third lap.Bourdais slammed almost head-on into the SAFER barrier, with the right-hand side of his car obliterated in the impact, before he half-flipped, eventually halting the correct way up.Bourdais was extricated from the wreckage and transferred to the IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he was diagnosed with multiple fractures to his pelvis and a...
