Tough day for Penske in Indy qualifying
Few would have predicted Saturday's qualifying session that sets Sunday's Top Nine run for the pole would finish with 80 percent of Team Penske missing out on the party. The good news is 2014 Verizon IndyCar champion Will Power (pictured) made the cut by setting the sixth-fastest speed. The bad news is his four teammates – possibly the most imposing assembly of drivers in the event – were nowhere close to cracking the code needed to vie for pole. Three-time Indy winner Helio Castroneves could only manage 14th in his No. 3 Chevy; Josef Newgarden was 17th in the No. 2, two-time 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya was next in 18th and defending series champion Simon Pagenaud was a distant 20th....
