Castroneves on third straight Long Beach pole

Helio Castroneves will start tomorrow's Verizon IndyCar Series race at Long Beach from pole position after topping a dramatic qualifying session on Saturday. The Brazilian broke his own track record from 2015 with his 1m06.2254s effort, earning him his third consecutive Long Beach pole, and the 48th pole of his career. But he was also an unwitting player in an incident that ultimately eliminated one of his teammates from the Fast Six.
