Phoenix International Raceway announces plans for $178 million track upgrade
Phoenix International Raceway has announced plans for a $178 million redevelopment programme to be completed by November 2018. Phoenix returned to the IndyCar calendar in 2016 after 11 years away in an April slot, and also hosts a number of NASCAR events including the Monster Energy Cup and its support series. Officials from Phoenix announced on Monday plans for a significant modernisation and redevelopment of the track that would also see the start/finish line be relocated to the straight prior to the current dogleg Turn 2.
