INDYCAR: Pigot impresses with best rookie performance at Road America

Ed Carpenter Racing's Spencer Pigot earned his best result during an abbreviated rookie IndyCar campaign on Sunday as the defending Indy Lights champion took ninth in the No. 20 ECR Chevy. It was only Pigot's sixth race of the year, his third so far with ECR, and came as a result of blending speed and consistency. The young American followed teammate Josef Newgarden home and held off next-generation drivers Carlos Munoz, Jack Hawksworth, and Marco Andretti to serve as IndyCar's top rookie performer.
