With severe weather threatening, series officials rushed to get qualifying for the Freedom 100 in before the rain arrived, but it proved impossible, especially when a shunt halted proceedings. Teams were given one opportunity to put up a qualifying speed for the Freedom 100, the result of an average taken over a two-lap run. Andretti Autosport's Shelby Blackstock was the first of 16 drivers on the track, posting a speed of 195.759mph.
