Rain sets Indy Lights grid by points

With severe weather threatening, series officials rushed to get qualifying for the Freedom 100 in before the rain arrived, but it proved impossible, especially when a shunt halted proceedings. Teams were given one opportunity to put up a qualifying speed for the Freedom 100, the result of an average taken over a two-lap run. Andretti Autosport's Shelby Blackstock was the first of 16 drivers on the track, posting a speed of 195.759mph. He stayed P1 until the fifth man out, Scott Hargrove of Team Pelfrey who was 0.6mph faster.   Ed Jones placed his Carlin car at the top of the charts, but the next driver out, Zachary Claman De Melo, crashed out of Turn 1 during his second lap.
