Indy 500 flypasts to represent history and modernity

Two Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornets, as well as a World War II-era Douglas SBD Dauntless and a North American P-51D Mustang, will fly above the front straight at IMS just before the world's biggest race. To mark the occasion of the 100th Running of the Indy 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, Indianapolis Motor Speedway is hosting two flypasts that demonstrate cutting edge machinery from 70 years ago and the present day.  The first flypast will feature a Mustang and a Dauntless, coordinated by the Commemorative Air Force, which preserves in flying condition a collection of combat aircraft flown by all U.S. military services.
