IndyCar tune-in alert: Race to start early
Rain approaching causes schedule shift. The Verizon Indycar race from Detroit's Belle Isle was scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., but any pre-race ceremonies have been moved up, and a revised scheduled calls for the green flag to fall at 3:31 p.m. ET, as the cars make their second lap around the track. Gridding and pre-race activities were pulled forward as rain approached from the west, and heavy rain on Friday showed that the track isn't draining well. The pull-forward meant the Speed Energy race, scheduled to conclude at 2:45, was sped up and run in pouring rain, and the IndyCars will head to the grid by 2:40 p.m. So if you're planning to watch the race, make sure your TV is tuned in...
